About Ristorante Abruzzi

Where Italian heritage meets modern Appalachian cuisine.

Ristorante Abruzzi is a tribute to two places owner Mark Chatfield calls home: West Virginia and Italy. Our menu honors generations-old Italian recipes from Chatfield’s family, brought to life by James Beard Award Semifinalist, Chef Chase Collier and his culinary team. Blending authentic Italian tradition with modern Appalachian influence, every dish tells a story, rich in flavor, memory, and place.

Meet the Chef

Chef Chase Collier

James Beard Award Semifinalist

Raised in Wise County, Virginia, Chef Chase Collier’s passion for cooking was shaped by Appalachian family traditions and diverse cultural influences. Starting in the restaurant industry at 14, he refined his skills through apprenticeships and key roles, including working under the late Chef Nick Brewer and at The Block Restaurant & Wine Cellar.

In 2025, Chef Chase earned national recognition as a James Beard Award Semifinalist, highlighting his culinary excellence. Now Executive Chef at Ristorante Abruzzi, he combines authentic Italian cuisine with Appalachian flavors, focusing on fresh, local ingredients. His innovative approach has earned multiple awards at Taste of All 2022. He lives in Saint Albans with his fiancée, Breanna, and two sons.
